Innovations by BOTTA

The fundamental simplification of the time display was the goal that motivated Klaus Botta to think about a new, intuitive representation of time back in 1986. He developed a watch face that, similar to a measuring instrument, shows the time with just one hand on a special scale. The result of his development was the model UNO, the first one-hand watch of modern times.

More iconic originals followed later, such as the NOVA, the timespan watch and the UNO24, which shows the entire day synchronized with the sun at a glance.

BOTTA has been using titanium as a material for certain models in its range since 1991. In 2023, the remaining watch models were also switched from stainless steel cases to specially developed tri-titanium watch cases.

These elaborately manufactured cases for our titanium watches are made up of three assemblies with different alloys. The top ring with a very resistant titanium alloy from aircraft construction, a low-alloy, very dimensionally stable case middle part and the screwable case back with a titanium alloy from medical technology.

BOTTA's own inverted lug system offers a compact fit for the watch on any wrist and also enables a surprisingly high level of comfort, even on narrower wrists. The strap lugs are integrated into the tri-titanium case, so that even watch cases with a case size of 45 mm sit perfectly comfortable on the wrist.

For example, with a 45 mm case, the two lugs are only 35.5 mm apart, ensuring a confident appearance and a precise fit of the watch. The low height of our watches also allows them to be worn comfortably under shirts. Two advantages that bring joy every day.

The BOTTA's own inverted-lug-system goes one step further: the strap attachments are integrated directly into the tri-titanium case, which drastically reduces the lug-to-lug distance. This makes the watch particularly compact and comfortable, even on narrower wrists. The lug-to-lug distance on our 45 mm case is only 35.5 mm, which ensures a confident appearance and an extremely high level of fit. On our 40 mm tri-titanium cases it is only 32 mm.

In addition, the low height of our watches ensures that they are very comfortable to wear - even under shirts. A design advantage that brings joy every day.

All BOTTA watches have a domed sapphire crystal with an anti-reflective coating on both sides. In addition, the anti-reflective coating we use is particularly resistant to abrasion, which allows you to have a lasting view of the time. A high optical quality is guaranteed by the anti-reflective coating on both sides of the watch. A topaz-blue shimmer covers the tempered sapphire crystal depending on the incidence of light. The high-quality glass of the watch is immediately recognizable.

Strictly speaking, the C hand is not a pointer in the traditional sense, but rather a seconds indicator, which is used in the TRES 24 and MONDO GMT finds. Instead of a conventional hand, a gap in the ring of the central seconds disc replaces the conventional second hand.

This saves the need for an additional hand, which pays off particularly in three- or four-hand watches through reduced complexity and a better overview. The principle of the C pointer is protected.
