24h watches are different, but logical

Must a watch always show 12 hours? Actually, watches that are aligned to the day with its 24 hours should also display 24 hours. Our 24-hour watches are an exciting alternative to classic models with a 12-hour scale.
The special watches with their distinctive 24-hour scales immediately catch the eye. Their unusual concept is always an interesting topic of conversation and underlines the individuality of their wearers and their special relationship to time.
24-hour watches are an expression of a conscious sense of time. Because anyone who wears a 24-hour watch always has an overview of the entire day and yet lives in the moment. This helps to focus on the important things in life instead of unnecessarily complicating everyday life.

24-hour watches not only stand for a conscious approach to time, their display also stands out for its special logic.

24h wristwatch: The most natural way to display time

At first glance, the 24-hour watch appears extraordinary because we have become familiar with the abstract form of the 12-hour scale. At second glance, however, a 24-hour face reveals their convincing logic.
After all, our sense of time depends on the position of the sun. Last but not least, our bio-rhythm is aligned with the light and dark phases of the day. BOTTA 24-hour watches therefore divide the day on their dial into a light half of the day at the top and a darker half of the night at the bottom. The 24 o'clock position is at the bottom of the dial. There, a fine line indicates the date line. Opposite it is the 12 o'clock position at the highest point of the dial - analogous to the highest position of the sun at noon.

24h watches stand for relaxation

By displaying the time according to natural logic, 24-hour watches from BOTTA have a positive influence on the wearer's sense of time. They radiate peace and quiet, providing a soothing counterbalance to the often closely timed daily routine.
Thanks to the pleasantly decelerated movement of their hands, 24-hour watches ensure a relaxed perception of time. They thus suggest a sovereign handling of time and a return to the natural perception of time.

24 hour watches - a brief history of time

Even in ancient times people had the need to measure time. However, a worldwide, unambiguous representation of time has not existed for very long. In the past, time was measured very directly according to the position of the sun. Depending on the region, the day began either at sunrise (Babylonian / Greek time measurement) or at sunset (Italian / Bohemian time measurement). In Egypt, the day was first divided into 24 units of similar length. During the day, the time was read from the position of the sun, at night from the stars. As a result, for a long time there were only 24-hour watches.

For reasons of technical feasibility, however, pocket watches were usually designed as 12-hour watches, which divided the day into two parts. This abstract form of time display, which is still most widespread today, was thus created.
It was not until 1345 that the 24 hours of the day were provided with the subdivisions minutes and seconds. Minute and second hands, on the other hand, were not introduced until 1537. Previously, all watches had only one hand.

Today, the ISO 8601 standard regulates the division of the day into 24 equinoctial (= day and night equally long) hours and the counting of time worldwide.
It is also noteworthy that although the 12-hour display dominates, the 24-hour division is often used in speech widely around the globe.

Frühe Turmuhren etwa waren oft 24 Stunden Uhren.

24 hour watch TRES 24 from BOTTA - "24 hours to the second"

The TRES 24 from BOTTA combines the consistently logical and sun-synchronous time display of a 24-hour watch with the exact time display of a three-hand watch. It offers an overview of the complete day, and its dial is also divided into a brighter day half and a darker night half.
Thanks to its three hands, the time can be read to the minute or second despite the 24-hour scale. A special concept highlight is the C-hand of the TRES 24, a new form of second indicator developed by BOTTA.
In contrast to conventional second hands, it displays the progress of the seconds much more smoothly and thus more relaxed.
The 24-hour watch TRES 24 is an unusual, but also practical watch for everyday use. For demanding friends of exceptional products, for whom an accurate time display is important.

24h watch UNO 24 from BOTTA - "Extraordinarily logical"

The UNO 24 one-hand watch from BOTTA simplifies the time display even more consistently: As a 24-hour watch, it shows the complete day at a glance. It combines the 24-hour watch face with the one-hand principle uniquely. Its hand not only symbolizes the position of the sun, its rotational speed also corresponds exactly to the speed of the sun's orbit, or more precisely the rotational speed of the earth. Each time of day has a unique position on the dial. The ambiguity of the time display at a 12-hour clock (e.g. 03:00 = 15:00) does not exist at the 24-hour clock. The "day on the dial" runs like a natural day. At 6 AM, the hand crosses the horizon towards the bright half of the day, reaches the zenith at 12 AM, changes back to the night half at 6 PM and starts its journey again the next day by crossing the date line at 12 PM. The date display also changes at the exact moment when the hand crosses the date line and the date window.

A 24 hours watch face as the perfect compass

The fact that the hand of the UNO 24 wristwatch runs synchronously with the sun gives it a practical additional benefit: With its 24 hours watch face, it can serve as a very accurate compass that you always carry on your wrist. It can be used both in the Northern Hemisphere and in the Southern Hemisphere as a wristwatch with compass. The watch is always aligned in a certain way with the sun. The exact position determination differs in the northern and southern hemispheres, but it is extremely simple and precise because it refers directly and immediately to the relevant variable, the sun.

This function makes the direct nature reference of the 24-hour watch UNO 24 particularly clear. Here you will find a simple and understandable instructions on how to use the watch as a compass.
